Hyundai Mobis Revolutionizes EVs with Innovative In-Wheel System.

South Korean auto parts manufacturer Hyundai Mobis has successfully developed a groundbreaking in-wheel system, a first-of-its-kind technology that has not yet been mass-produced in the industry. The in-wheel system allows independent control of each wheel, significantly enhancing power efficiency and driving performance. This cutting-edge technology is a vital component of the e-Corner module, a futuristic mobility solution designed to enable zero turns and crab walking in electric vehicles.

Hyundai Mobis has been working on the in-wheel system since 2010 and has developed the key technologies, including the drive motor and controller, in-house. The system is currently being tested for mass-production reliability in collaboration with Hyundai Motor Company using the IONIQ 5. The in-wheel system is integrated into the e-corner system, which combines electronic steering, braking, and suspension technologies centered around the in-wheel motor. Hyundai Mobis aims to complete the development of the e-Corner System within the next five years, with mass production of the in-wheel system anticipated by the end of the year.
