On 1 June, PSA BDP, a leading company in global and port-centric supply chain, transportation, and logistics solutions, held a grand opening ceremony for its new Electric Vehicle (EV) battery logistics warehouse in Dunkirk, France.

The new warehouse, which covers an area of 236,806 square feet, is highly specialized for handling EV batteries. It has a BREEAM* certification and meets the highest standards for sustainable EV battery management, such as in-rack sprinklers, temperature and humidity cameras, quarantine containers and water basins. PSA BDP chose Northern France for its new warehouse because this region is becoming a hotspot for EV technology development with four EV battery gigafactories announced so far. In April, PSA BDP announced that it will provide contract logistics and hinterland transportation services for Automotive Cells Company (ACC) in Dunkirk. ACC is a joint venture between Stellantis, Mercedes-Benz and TotalEnergies, through its subsidiary Saft, and is building its first gigafactory in Billy-Berclau in Northern France.

The PSA BDP warehouse is strategically located near the Port of Dunkirk logistics zone, which gives it an advantage to serve the emerging Auto EV industry in the region by offering better connectivity and sustainable solutions like e-trucks, e-barges, and rail transportation. This way, PSA BDP can help EV battery producers achieve their goals of zero emissions and circular supply chains. During the opening ceremony, attendees witnessed a test drive from the eActros, the first all-electric truck from Mercedes-Benz, from ACC’s gigafactory in Billy-Berclau to PSA BDP‘s warehouse in Dunkirk.
