  1. Planning to triple electric vehicle production in 2025 from its 2024 target, Toyota aims to produce around 600,000 electric vehicles in 2025 as part of a broader strategy to include various power sources, including gasoline and hybrid vehicles.

  8. California Governor Gavin Newsom vetoed a bill that would have mandated a human safety operator for self-driving trucks on public roads, asserting that existing laws provide adequate regulatory oversight for heavy-duty autonomous vehicle technology in the state.
  9.  A patent-pending brake light detection system has been developed by Ford to improve safety in autonomous and driver-assistance-equipped vehicles, giving priority to detecting brake lights over traffic signals, preventing premature vehicle movement at green lights, and assisting in cases of malfunctioning traffic lights.

Plans for dedicated lanes exclusively for autonomous vehicles are in development in Japan to improve transportation speed, reduce traffic congestion, enhance safety, and utilize advanced traffic control systems and in-vehicle technology to monitor vehicle movements and protect vulnerable road users.
